Charter’s Founder Peter J. Lunati is a graduate of the University of Georgia where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in risk management, insurance and geology. But Pete’s passion for Enterprise Risk Management in the energy sector was permanently forged on the Northern Slopes of Alaska in 1977 while working for the Standard Oil Company of Ohio (now BP) out of Cleveland, Ohio. The deep, hands-on experience he received working for these energy powerhouses convinced Pete to return home to Atlanta in 1986 and launch his own firm, Charter Insurance. With Pete’s guidance, the company quickly established a reputation for developing strong client relationships, straight talk, hands-on field work and service beyond their clients’ expectations. And Pete soon found himself handling a portfolio of energy-related companies in the US, the UK, Africa, the Middle East and Russia. An avid fisherman and outdoorsman, you will often find Pete conducting meetings in the middle of a trout stream with clients or while stalking quail in South Georgia – instead of on a golf course.
