Alex Carruthers

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Alex is an Eagle Scout who seems to have taken that distinguished organization’s motto – “Be Prepared” – to heart. (Except for the time he ran out of gas and had to coast down the entire descent of Chattanooga’s Lookout Mountain). He knew earlier than most of us what he wanted to do for a living and chose the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, due to its status as the nation’s number-one school for risk management and insurance – where he collected certificates in Informatics for Data and Actuarial Science. After graduation, Alex jumped right in – interning at global risk management firm Gallagher in Nashville before moving to Starr in Atlanta, where he specialized in Director and Officer Risk Underwriting. An avid golfer, traveler and tennis player, Alex loves oysters, the occasional Old Fashioned and Larry McMurtry’s classic western novel Lonesome Dove. He is also among the precious few who have completed the famed “Camino de Santiago” pilgrimage in Spain – doing so in just 31 days.
